We share stories of success from our program here on the blog as well as on our Facebook page. While the events and circumstances of the stories are true in every detail, names have been changed to protect the identity of participants, and photos are representative of, but not the actual, participants.
James is a 54-year-old male who first came to RISE in December of 2016. He was unemployed and living in the shelter.
James was first put on probation at the age of 12 and has been incarcerated three times as an adult. James has an excellent attitude and positive outlook on life. He was ready to settle down, get a job and help others.
James greatest needs when he came to RISE was getting his birth certificate, his SS card, housing, and a job. RISE helped him get his birth certificate and SSW card and because of his attitude he got a job as a supervisor at the shelter where he was living. He works at the Mission of Hope everyday helping others who have experienced similar situations as he has.
James continues to live in the shelter today, preferring that to getting an apartment, (at this time) because he feels he is doing service to others and giving back. He is very proud of his life now and wants to continue to improve.
